I am very much a Southern California girl. My favorite shoes are flip flops, my favorite top is a tank top and my favorite pants are yoga pants! And no make-up unless I have to. I grew up at the beach; there is nothing like the sound of the waves and the smell of saltwater, so calming and life affirming. Since I desire peace and serenity in my own life, you will see those themes reflected in my work. I lean toward monochromatic and muted tones. At the same time, I do not like feeling boxed in; I like the freedom to explore, the freedom to grow and the freedom to express myself. So you will also see more dramatic and colorful pieces. It all depends on what has inspired me that day!
My grandmother had a major impact on my life - she was an artist, a strong Southern Baptist, a great storyteller (we are part Irish), and a lover of ice skating, old movies, and dancing. All the things I see reflected in my own life, but the greatest legacy my grandmother left me was a strong faith in God. My favorite activities as a child were reading (I began at the age of the age of four!) and coloring. Very solitary endeavors, but solitude suits me. As I grew older, I set my sights on being an art major; however, life intervened and I spent 21 years in financial services. At the age of 49, I was laid off and found myself re-evaluating everything. I decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing something I loved. My passions were always art and photography, so I bought a camera and set out to learn as much as I could. That path lead me to Sebastian Michaels/Photoshop Artistry and Serge Ramelli. I have not looked back. Everyday I get to learn something new, be inspired and play!
The Artistic Life is a journey, not a destination. I hope you will join me...
